Danny Ang started bird-keeping at an age of eight with two pairs of parakeets and a tamed rice bird. From birds, he ventured into dogs and tropical fish-keeping. Because of his interest in animals, he pursued a degree in Veterinary Medicine at the De La Salle - Gregorio Araneta University Foundation.
In 1997, he joined the Avian Society of the Philippines and was appointed area director, vice president and later president. In 2001, he was appointed director for Chapter Accreditation and Membership of the Philippine Federation of Guinea Pig Breeders Inc., an organization of cavy enthusiasts. He conducted several seminars about birds and guinea pigs, which help disseminate wider knowledge to new and would-be hobbyist.
At present, he is the adviser of Birds Industry Research & Development Society, Inc. (BIRDS, Inc.) and a columnist at Animal Scene for Yin and Yang with Danny Ang.
